Yes — the link must appear on your main domain's homepage (e.g. yoursite.com or www.yoursite.com). We crawl the root URL to verify. A link buried on an inner page won't count.

Absolutely. Footer placement is perfectly fine and very common. As long as it's on the homepage and not hidden with CSS, it counts.

The link must be do-follow: if its rel attribute includes nofollow or ugc, it doesn't count. A plain link, or one with rel="noopener" or rel="sponsored", is fine. We read the rel attribute every time we check, so a link marked that way counts the same as no link: a draft stays a draft, and a live listing is hidden until it is fixed.

The moment you press Submit — it takes a few seconds. If your homepage sits behind a CDN cache it can take a minute or two for a freshly added badge to show up; press "Check my homepage" on your draft page and we read it again.

Not at once. We re-read live listings' homepages about once a month. If the link is missing on three reads over about a week, the listing is hidden from the directory and we email you; nothing is deleted. Put the badge back, press "Check my homepage" on the page that email links to, and the listing is live again. If you'd rather not think about it, Pro and Featured don't need a badge.

Yes. The badges are high-resolution (2× retina) and look sharp at common sizes. Just adjust the width and height attributes in the HTML snippet. We recommend keeping the aspect ratio intact.
