burntop
FastAPI + React 19 + Postgres template for AI coding agents.
In their words
burntop is an open-source full-stack template made for apps that AI coding agents build. It gives you FastAPI, React 19 (TanStack Start), Tailwind 4, shadcn/ui and PostgreSQL 18, with session auth, Google OAuth, a reference CRUD feature and Docker Compose ready to run.
Guardrails
- 203 end-to-end tests (161 backend on real Postgres, 42 Playwright)
- 39 mocking libraries banned; untested routes and pages fail CI
- AGENTS.md files and skills for Claude Code, Cursor and Codex
- Docker Compose, GitHub Actions, Sentry, ~60 make targets
A feature is done only when make ci passes, so the agent can't fake a green check. Free; source is on GitHub.

What is burntop?
FastAPI, React 19, and PostgreSQL 18 come together in burntop, an open-source full-stack template built for apps that AI coding agents generate. Unlike standard boilerplates, the structure provides nested AGENTS.md files, project-standards skills, and strict test rules that prevent agents from faking green build checks. Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, and any other agent reading the instruction files can clone the repository and start writing production code immediately.
Stack and services
Python 3.12, FastAPI, SQLAlchemy 2 async, Alembic, Pydantic 2, and uv power the backend. The frontend relies on React 19, TanStack Start, TanStack Router and Query, Tailwind 4, shadcn/ui, and Bun. PostgreSQL 18 handles data storage while Docker Compose, multi-stage Dockerfiles, GitHub Actions, and Sentry manage operations with pinned versions. Session auth includes register, login, logout from all devices, Google OAuth, password reset, email verification, and Argon2 hashing. A reference items feature supplies a router, service, repository, server-side search, filtering, sorting, pagination, and ownership checks that new modules copy.
Guardrails and end-to-end tests
A feature remains unfinished until the make ci command passes successfully. The codebase contains 203 end-to-end tests, consisting of 161 backend tests running against real PostgreSQL containers using Testcontainers and 42 Playwright tests checking the full stack. Ruff bans 39 mocking libraries to prevent mock imports from passing the build. Any route without tests, page without specs, or model lacking migrations causes the automated run to fail.
