What is TypeFire?

Text expansion, a Markdown notes editor, and a clipboard manager combine inside a single utility for macOS and web browsers. Short abbreviations typed in any text field or rich editor expand instantly into full snippets, email addresses, or repetitive phrases. The text expansion engine inside TypeFire supports plain, rich, and Markdown bodies, fill-in forms, and dynamic tokens such as dates and clipboard contents.

Snippets, AI prompts, and notes

Beyond basic text expansion, the software lets users select text in any native app or website to rewrite, fix, translate, or summarize it using built-in AI tokens or custom keys. A live Markdown editor opens existing local folders and Obsidian vaults in place without requiring imports or extra file copies. The interface includes wikilinks, backlinks, tables, tab bars, and a graph view that maps how different notes connect to one another.

Clipboard history and system integration

Everything copied to the system clipboard is saved, tagged, pinned, and made searchable, including text located inside screenshots through on-device optical character recognition. A global hotkey opens a universal search box that ranks snippets, notes, and past clips together in one list. On the Mac, AI applications such as Claude, Cursor, Codex, and GitHub Copilot connect directly via the Model Context Protocol without needing an API key. This connection allows external tools to search, read, and save notes and snippets locally while keeping data off external servers. Free online Markdown tools also run in any browser without requiring an account, letting users open or drop .md files, view rendered previews, and export documents to HTML or PDF formats.
